Trouble getting results with Scrum?

You have an agile framework for your projects, but people are more complex than projects.

You need a framework for understanding and motivating your people.

Gather Data

Not another assessment… I hear you. But you need to see results fast. My proven, scientific assessments help you learn in 10 minutes what would take a year to learn by observation. Want to spend a year or 10 minutes?

Educate

You know how critical systems and tools are for success in today’s world. Time to train your teams on a system for understanding how to communicate with each other, so we get the next sprint started on the right foot.

Adapt to Win

We analyze data to make sure the right people are in the right roles. And show you how to motivate your people. Each member of the team learns to understand each other and adapt to improve communication.

You know what sucks about implementing Scrum teams?

(Other than having to say the word Scrum over and over.)

That “people over processes” is easy to say but hard to do. And it’s surprisingly difficult to get people who are used to working independently to work as one team.

That you spent weeks updating systems, documents and org charts to get people into these teams, but you don’t see a return on all of that time.

That implementing Scrum was supposed to get that customer wishlist finished faster… yet the deadlines keep creeping.

That sometimes it’s simply about leveraging tools backed by years of research to make sure the right people are in the right roles, so you take a deep breath and watch people add value to the team by tapping into their natural superpowers.

Sometimes it’s simply about finding a few magic phrases that unlock that internal drive in each of us, so your employees want to jump in and see the team win together.

Sometimes it’s about removing the communication barriers that pop up unexpectedly by giving people a proven system for understanding and adapting to each other on their own… so you have time to get back to your own list of tasks.

That’s where I come in!

My name is Metsy Corter, The Scrumentalist™.

I’m the only certified DISC behaviorist with 15 years of experience in the tech trenches as a programmer, designer and project manager.

After 15 years involved directly with new development projects for Fortune 500 companies, I trained for two years and became a behavioral profiler to help you and YOUR teams communicate better, work smarter, and achieve goals you thought were out of reach a year ago.

Scrum + Mentalist = Scrumentalist.

You came to the right place. I am here to help.

Got Scrum in place, but need to get your people on board?

People struggle with change. It's human nature.

After the pricey Scrum implementation consultant went home, you had a beautiful hope for how amazing agile development would be…

But today, you still have to deal with personality conflicts between ScrumMasters and product owners and team members. Dealing with Bob giving everyone the silent treatment. With Taylor bulldozing over the product owner.

It will take a bit of work to win these daily battles of broken communication, but you are not alone.

We gather information on each person using proven assessments.

Then we implement a custom solution for your particular issue. Whether that is team training, one-on-coaching or helping you make sure you have the right people doing the right tasks.

What does all of this cost?

It depends. (Stop rolling your eyes.)

How many people are on your team to assess? Do you want me to deliver training via the Internet machine or in person? How many topics do you want me to cover? Are you hiring or helping existing teams?

You see where this is going.

The good news! Book a free 15 minute discovery session to tell me your woes.

Then, you sit back while I put together a proposal custom-made for you.

Why should you care about taking some assessment?

What gets me up in the morning is a need to help you fix broken communication at work. To help you get the right people in the right jobs.

To give you such amazing insight into your employees that they start to think you are reading their minds.

Because I believe science and technology should serve people.

You can learn more in 10 minutes by reading the results of one of my assessments than you could learn by observing that person for A YEAR. You read that right. I’m a fan of 10 minutes, not a year.

Can I profile your people and provide services without assessments? Absolutely, I could. But you would pay more. And it’s not an efficient use of our time.

Use my tools, my knowledge and my experience to help you get the teams working together, so they plow through that wish list from the customer. So they start meeting deadlines.

So you look like a Scrum miracle worker.

Learn more in 10 minutes than you could observe in a year.

Metsy, what the heck is a Scrumentalist?

It’s a term I created to capture my weird, wonderful mix of skills as a behavioral profiler (mentalist, if you will) and my experience in the tech field. Now, I help you learn a framework for improving communication with everyone you work with on a daily basis… as long as they are human.

Which assessments do you use?

When you pull employees away from their desks for training AND spend the money to get a tool, wouldn’t you want to use ONE to fix MANY issues? One set of tools for team building, hiring, and more. Yep, found it. It’s as close to one-stop shopping as possible.

Thankfully, I use tools from a company called TTI Success Insights (TTI).

Over three decades, TTI has researched and applied social and brain science, providing assessment solutions in 90 countries and 40 languages used to hire, develop and retain the best talent in the world. TTI has worked with over 100,000 companies. TTI tools are EEOC and OFCCP compliant and are continuously tested and refined to ensure the highest standards of ethics and reliability. (In English, that means that they are safe to use as a part of your hiring process in the U.S., because they don’t impact any protected classes.)

Every 7 seconds, someone is taking one of these assessments.

TTI’s TriMetrix® HD assessments combine four sciences – behaviors, motivators, competencies and acumen – in one validated, bias-free and fully integrated assessment.

  • Behaviors – Four dimensions of normal behavior (DISC) or “how” we behave
  • Motivators – Six basic motivators that drive us or “why” we take action
  • Competencies – 25 research-based soft skills directly related to the business environment
  • Acumen – A person’s keenness and depth of discernment, identifies how we think and make decisions

Also available: An emotional intelligence assessment and a job stress assessment.

Did you really actually write code for a living?

Yes, I was actually a programmer. I was trained in procedural C. Spent the bulk of my tech career writing custom web applications using classic ASP. I know, old tech. But most of my projects were 6 weeks from idea to launch, so ASP let me control as much of my environment as possible. I tried to get ASP .Net implemented three times, but IT kept reorganizing right before my servers went live. I managed SQL databases. Wrote custom batch processes. Wore a pager for when the servers went down. I don’t code anymore (except for my websites.)

Do you only work with Scrum teams? Or all types of teams?

I work with any team, whether tech, Scrum or not. I have a special place in my nerdy heart for tech teams. They probably won’t roll their eyes when I geek out about my new TARDIS tee or the extended edition of The Hobbit.

I have a different website that is less focused on tech. If all this tech talk is bugging you, please head over to metsy.com.

What are you certified in?

DISC behaviors, Motivators, Acumen, Soft Skills (competencies).

  • Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst (CPBA), TTI Success Insights
  • Certified Professional Motivators Analyst (CPMA), TTI Success Insights
  • Certified Professional TTI TriMetrix HD Analyst (CPHDA), TTI Success Insights
  • DISC Modeling, Competitive Edge, Inc.
  • Motivators Modeling, Competitive Edge, Inc.
  • Global Models and Benchmarking, Competitive Edge, Inc.

I know you’re curious if I squeaked by on those tests. My lowest score was 96.98%. Boom.

Hey, Metsy.... You don't look like a programmer.

What does a programmer look like? Most of us don’t live in The Matrix or The Net. It just doesn’t matter. Besides, I live in Texas and thought blond, midlife crisis hair was cheaper than a sports car payment.

So are you a psychologist? Life coach? Recruiter? HR person?

No. I am not a psychologist. I am not really a life coach. I am not a recruiter. I am not an HR generalist. I am not a real blonde.

I am a behaviorist or behavioral profiler. I train people on how to use the study of human behavior and motivators to communicate more effectively. I provide scientific assessments used for training, one-on-one coaching and for help in making hiring decisions. (I do not make the final hiring decisions for you. You are the boss.)

As a clinical neuropsychologist, I see a variety of self-help and invalid tools come across my desk. I am generally skeptical of the utility and reliability of such measures. However, I found the set of TTI assessment tools used by Metsy to be well supported by empirical data. It was not a face valid measure, making it an excellent tool. I appreciated the elements of the test results that provided information on how to best communicate with individuals and how to effectively manage and promote improved performance based on personality traits. She uses the one product that I found provided tangible and reliable tools for management.

The assessments and Metsy’s coaching for professional development and managing employees are a powerful combination.

I honestly felt a bit uncertain about the outcome and impact when I engaged in the service. I’m happy to report a delightful experience.

Metsy produces a personalized report and provides coaching in an informal, comfortable setting. The report and discussion provided me with valuable insight into improving the effectiveness of communications, based on an individual’s attributes and style. It also enabled me to tune my key messages and help peers adjust theirs. Further, it’s helpful for me to understand how my natural style compares with 70% of the workplace population.

I valued the report and feedback so much that I have recommended the service to colleagues and family members.

Jeanette Wayne

Global Program Management Executive

When I joined Metsy’s team, I felt excitement and camaraderie from the beginning. She truly cares about helping other people learn and grow, so she built a team where knowledge was shared and so was responsibility. We covered for each other and learned new things together. She created opportunities for us to grow on the job and supported us during the learning process.

Metsy is able to analyze situations and people, perceive the nuances of interactions, and articulate clearly and candidly. She has the unique ability to finesse the details of a project without losing that 30,000 foot perspective that makes the project meaningful and valuable. I always knew that when I turned over any part of a project for review, she would have candid and useful feedback. Metsy is fabulous, and I want people to know!
